That home language might be a grandparent's language, a language spoken at school, or simply one a family has decided matters to keep alive at home.
This matters for bilingual households specifically because the two languages are rarely at the same level. A child might be reading confidently in English while just starting to sound out words in a home language, or the other way round, further along in the home language a family speaks daily than in English picked up mostly at school. Because each language keeps its own placement and its own tier progress, neither language is forced onto a shared ladder with the other.
The game itself stays identical either way: the same 12 game modes, the same read-aloud mode that listens, and the same no-ads and offline guarantees, whichever pair a family plays.
Adding the home language works the same way starting English does. A short placement warm-up finds a reasonable starting point in that language's own words, then adjusts round by round as your child plays and gets more comfortable.
